#neverthesame – she was never the same after this day

2/2 on hic et nunc

A few things most don’t know about this artwork

  1. That house is the actual house I lived in between the ages of 5 and 7 in California. I looked it up in Google maps and drew it.
  2. The glitchy man in the truck is a photo of my dad.
  3. The street and signs like “Pancho’s Market” are an actual city in Mexico.
  4. Wondermundo is stuck at the window

I wrote a poem about this and made it into an NFT as well. ?

Monday Morning

I’m waiting for daddy.
He said he’d be right back.
2 hours later-
I never noticed his clothes were,
Gone.

Daddy’s always home first.
(Mommy works full time.)
He’s always bringing me gifts.
Never dolls though.
(Daddy knows I don’t like dolls.)
And he never brings me games,
With lots of pieces.
(Daddy says I’ll lose everything.)
He likes to give me coloring books,
And markers.
(Daddy knows I like to draw him.)

In the evening,
Daddy likes to watch wrestling.
(He’ll let me watch Inspector Gadget though.)
And even when Daddy is busy,
He’ll still stop and watch me
Sing and dance to Madonna.
(Daddy says I’ll be famous some day.)
I asked Daddy,
To take the training wheels off my bike.
He did.
He said riding a bike was easy.
He said he’d push me, and he wouldn’t
Let go….yet.
(Daddy knew I was scared.)

It’s a nice day outside and,
Daddy’s home early,
But he’s leaving again.
He says he’ll be right back,
He’s going to the store,
But I can’t go with him.
(He said he’d bring me a kit kat though.)
I can’t wait till he gets back.
The window is,
My new friend.

I’m waiting for daddy.
He said he’d be right back.
2 hours later-
I never noticed his clothes were,
Gone.
